INNER MOVES The Butoh Way
ABOUT WORKSHOP

The workshop (in parts 'Body weather' as I learned it through Hisako Horikawa since 20 years) is aiming to give visibility to normally hidden contents through the movement of our bodies.

Besides self developed methods some elements of 'Body weather' will be used during the workshop:

1. MB (Mind/Body-Muscles/Bones, strong physical work)
2. Manipulations (partner work to open up the body)
3. Stimulations (partner work that works on connection)
4. Slow work (very slow movement)
5. Sensorial work (for example:sense deprivation)

We won't focus on the precise execution, presenting or following exact movement patterns in this workshop. We work on letting the body display an expression that origins from the notion that a deeper meaning can emerge when we put our body into 'service'. This is done by working on seemingly simple tasks that sometimes involve (next to images) objects that help us to awake and feed our imagination and sensation. The task (service) helps us to let go of focussing on the form of the body. In slowing down movement and perception we rather experience and 'be' what we sense instead of representing or mimicking an interpretation of a sensation or an emotion.

"Unknown contents move into visibility when the body 'serves', moving and perceiving in a slow manner."
